Ukrainians in Argentina

Most Ukrainian immigrants arrived in Argentina in the early 20th century, with the largest wave of immigration occurring between 1890 and 1930. At that time, Argentina was experiencing economic growth, and many Ukrainians saw it as an opportunity to start a new life. Most Ukrainian immigrants in Argentina settled in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Entre Rios, and Misiones. Many Ukrainians fleeing Communism entered Argentina between 1946 and 1950. As of 2010, around 300,000 Ukrainians were living in Argentina. In 2022, President Alberto Fernández’s administration in Argentina declared it would provide humanitarian visas to Ukrainian asylum seekers.
